Volunteer Program Details
Volunteer - Work-Exchange - Internship Program Details
Volunteers join us from all over the world and all walks of life to work with us on the ground,
to
help in the actual creation & maintenance of our learning centre and cacao processing facilities, and stewardship of the overall farm.
Work is often physical and demanding, given in exchange not only for accommodation but also
for the chance to learn and experience with us,
the daily life of sustainable jungle living
in addition to a wealth of teachings shared during farm
and project work.
What's Involved & Required

Where You'll Stay

Where We Are
We are located 'away from it all', in the pure jungle, situated on the very border between cacao lands and undisturbed forest.
Our main house is just over 1km from the road, up and over a hill, the top of which grants a clear ocean view overlooking Cahuita National Park.
We are in the midst of nature, and this is a true jungle experience where we live simply with our only neighbours being the multitude of wildlife around.
Still, the town of Cahuita is only a 10-minute bus ride to the North, and Puerto Viejo 15-minutes to the South.
Volunteer Accommodations
Volunteers stay in our community home, which can host 12 concurrent volunteers in 3 bedrooms.
There's a common sitting area and patio upstairs, and kitchen, eating and sitting areas downstairs.
The ocean lookout bench is about a minute walk away, and there is another small ocean-view reading/sitting/meditation platform a few minutes walk from the volunteer house.
A hop away is the composting toilet - this is a very rustic experience! - and the nearby creek
provides us with a
few refreshing bathing spots (we have no shower).

Nothing. If you are able to come as a full-term Volunteer, Work-Exchange or Internship your stay is absolutely free.
If you are coming for a full Work-Exchange or Internship, some of your meals are also covered for you.
Absolutely. Many. We only list here our most basic on-going projects. Ask us to learn about others.
It depends on the type of stay you are applying for.
Volunteers most often apply months before their arrival, but sometimes if we have cancellations or openings a week or two could do. For a Work-Exchange or Internship, more time is required to customize your program of learning.
Travelers and short-term Helpers can reserve their space with as little as a few days notice if space exists, but more time in advance helps to ensure your space.
